Training Programme of ICAR CIFA
The ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (ICAR-CIFA) is a premier Institute in freshwateraquaculture in India under the administrative control of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi. The Institute is also the Regional Lead Centre on 'Carp Farming in India' under Network of Aquaculture Centres in Asia-Pacific (NACA), Bangkok. ICAR-CIFA is undertaking research on basic and applied aspects of carps, air-breathing fishes, freshwater prawns and freshwater pearl production.
The Institute has well-experienced research faculty in various domains of aquaculture including production of food fish and shellfish, ornamental fishes, fish physiology, nutrition, genetics, biotechnology, nanotechnology, proteomics, microbiology, pathology, engineering, economics, statistics and extension. It also has well equipped laboratories for the different disciplines of finfish and shellfish research besides the two National Referral Laboratories for feed testing and disease diagnosis for freshwater fish and shell fishes. The Institute regularly organizes training programs to impart knowledge and skill in different topics of freshwater aquaculture to the stakeholders. These training programmes are customized to fulfill the demands of the stake holders and industries. Interested stakeholders may avail these training opportunities for skill development and capacity building.
Elogibility:
Officers of State Fisheries Department, faculty from State Universities, Scientists
of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, NGO functionaries, farmers and others.
Duration:
The details of the training, duration, venue and fee structure are given in the
table overleaf.
Nomination & Selection:
Applicants from line Departments, University and personnel belonging to any
other public/private organization and NGOs may send their application in the
provided format, forwarded through proper channel. Others including interested
farmers and individuals may send their application directly to the Director,
ICAR-CIFA,
Accommodation:
Boarding and lodging will be arranged in Hostel for which expenditure would be
Rs.300-500/day/head

How to Reach:
Bhubaneswar is well connected by train and flight service from major cities of
the country. The campus is about 20 minutes' drive (~10 km) from the
Bhubaneswar Railway station and 20 minutes' drive (~12 km) from the Biju
Patnaik Airport.
